This policy explains what personal information Blogs Wizards collects when you visit blogswizards.net, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Blogs Wizards is run by Astute Solutions, a software house, and edited by Shahid Anwer. For anything about this policy or your information, email team@blogswizards.net.
Information you give us
- Contact form and email: your name, email address and message, so we can reply.
- Comments: the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details, which help us detect spam. Your name, website and comment are shown publicly; your email address is not.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up, to send you the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Feedback surveys: your answers, if you choose to answer a short survey on the site.
- Accounts and orders: if you create an account or buy something from us, the details needed to do that, such as your name, email and billing details. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider, not stored by us.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server records basic technical information with each visit: your IP address, browser, the page you asked for, and the time. We use it to keep the site secure and working. The services below also use cookies and similar technologies, as described next.
Services we use
- Google Analytics measures how the site is used (pages visited, how long, roughly where from, what device), using cookies. We see this as statistics, not as information about you by name. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense: we are setting up Google AdSense to show adverts on this site. Once ads are shown, Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s Ad Settings or opt out of many third-party advertisers at aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Mailchimp stores newsletter subscribers’ email addresses and sends the newsletter.
- OptinMonster shows sign-up messages on the site and uses cookies to remember whether you have already seen or closed one.
- Akismet (by Automattic) checks comments and contact-form messages for spam. To do this, the message, your name, email, IP address and browser details are sent to Akismet.
- Gravatar (by Automattic) may show a profile picture next to your comment. A coded version of your email address is sent to Gravatar to check whether you have one.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts the site uses; your browser connects to Google to load them, which shares your IP address with Google.
These services are run by other companies, mainly based in the United States, and handle your information under their own privacy policies.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. Besides the analytics, advertising and sign-up cookies above, WordPress sets cookies if you leave a comment (to remember your name and email for next time, if you ask it to) and if you log in or use the shop. You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings; the site will still work, though some features may not remember you.
Why we use your information
- To reply to you, publish your comments and send the newsletter you asked for.
- To keep the site secure and free of spam.
- To understand which articles are useful and improve the site.
- To show advertising, once it is running on the site.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the services above and where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Comments stay with the article they were left on, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Messages you send us are kept as long as needed to deal with them.
- Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data is kept for the period set in Google Analytics, after which Google deletes it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing team@blogswizards.net. Depending on where you live, for example in the EU, the UK or California, the law may give you further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We will reply within 30 days.
Children
Blogs Wizards is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
